Notes for Peter Cash |
Moved to Granville County, North Carolina in 1774 with his parents. He married Sarah thought to be member of the Anderson Smith family ca. 1780.
Served 3 month tour of duty in North Carolina Militia about 1780-1781 during the Revolutionary war for which he was granted a pension of $30.00 a year on 11/28/1832. After the war ended he began to buy a great amount of land in Granville County. Mostly in the Dutch district along Cedar Creek.
Existing records indicate that he did not addumulate this land for farming but rather for business as in each case he retained the land only for a short time and then sold at a considerable profit..
By 1825, he had sold all but 73 acres wheich he retained until his death. He died in Granville County, North Carolina in 1846 at the age of 90 years. He left a most peculiar will in which he left his estate to "my friend" Elijah Hester to be used for the benefit of my daughter Lucretia and my daughter in law Lucretia, wife of my son Peter and after their deaths to the heirs of their body.
It would seem that of all of his children only Peter and Lucretia survived him. |
