Notes for Camilla Ann Shaw |
smoked a pipe and when her mother Lecia would come to visit she would hide in the smokehouse to smoke her pipe. died from the flu while living with relatives. She is buried in the Osceola Cemetery not far from Butler, Oklahoma in Custer County.
One day during the civil war, she was boiling sweet potatoes and some union soldiers came by and started forking them out and eating them. Little Melvina started crying thinking they were going to eat them all so one of the soldiers stuck a hot potato in her mouth to shut her up. |
