WILLIAM HOLMES (deceased) Letters of Administration.
State of Tennessee_______County Court_____ _______ Tenn 1851
Whereas it appears to the court here that William Homes is dead and having made no will
or letter. And application being made by Henry G. Nichols & Margaret Homes to have
letters of administration granted to them on the estate of the said William Homes,
deceased, they having given _____ _____ security as by law-in such case is required. The
court therefore order that he have letters accordingly. Whereas therefore & authority and
empower you the said Henry G. Nichols & Margaret Holmes to entrants and upon all
and singular the goods and chattel rights and credits to the said William Homes deceased
and the same into your possession take where over the same to be found in this state and
a true and deficit inventory thereof to make and return unto our issuing County Court on
oath, and all the just debts of the interstate to pay sofaras the said estate will amount or
extend the residue thereof deliver to _____ __ have a right whereto by law wherein fail

H G Nichols Adm. of William Holmes Refunding bond August __ 1853
Know all men by these present that we Henry G. Nichols, David Campbell, John Holmes are hold and firmly bound unto Gilbert Marshall chairman of the County Court for the County of Williamson in the State of Tennessee and his successors in office in the sum of Two hundred forty ___ 38/ dollars which payment all and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs, executors and administers presently and severally & firmly by these present. Dated with our sole and dated this 10 day of June 1853. Completion of this obligation such that whereas the said Henry G. Nichols administrator of William Holmes deceased has received from the Clerk of Williamson County. ___ ___ and of said court at
this May Term 1853. One hundred twenty three dollars said William’s debts limited share of the ____ formed __ against John Poell ____ the administer of the estate of N. Pryor _____ for settlement with the clerk of Williamson County Court ___ ___ said Henry G. Nichols Adm. ___ shall sell and truly pay and ___ his enable bounty ____ debt or debts truly ______ the discussed or which may be hereafter sued for and recondmation ___ _____ to appear then this obligation to be ___ estate be and remain in full force and said H. HOLMES vs WALKER & HOLMES, 1854

Henry G,Y, Nickhols and Margaret Holmes of Hickman County show that Holmes died in
that county in April, 1851, siezed and possessed of considerable real and personal estate,
situated and being in the counties of Hickman and Maury . . . petitioners are administrator
and administratratiz of . . . William O, (?) Holmes is one of the heirs, but that in February
1852, he signed his interest to Asbery W. Walker, but William O. Holmes was indebted to
the estate. . . Walker and other heirs have obtained an order to reduce the land and
Nergroes to cash. . . .filed 1 December 1854.

Deposition of John Holmes. . . was administrator de bonis non of Moses Holmes. .
William Holmes predecessor as administrator, dated 6 June 1855.

Assets of estate: undated widow’s dower lying in Hickman County, 217 acres, widow
about 52 years old. . . tract adjoining dower place, 100 acres in Maury Co. . . other land
sold 195 acres. . . land in 13th District of Hickman C0., known as lands of John Willson,
deceased. . . another tract of 218 acres in District 13 of Hickman Co., on waters of
Leatherwood, land William Homes, deceased, purchased from the Patton’s bounded by
Benjamin Willson, John R. Charter, Richard’s lands, and on south by J. H. Badger. . .
